Dinner meetings are usually held on the first Thursday of each month at the Bridgewater Manor. A pre-meeting social starts at 5:45 pm, followed by dinner and a technical presentation. We typically finish by 8:30 pm. 

Directions: From I-287 north, take exit 22A (206 south). Go thru two lights, Bridgewater Manor is on right. From I-287 south, take exit 22. Make right at end of ramp. Make next left, a jughandle to cross 202/206 to go south on 202/206. Go through three lights, Bridgewater Manor is on the right.  Parking is free.

Admission: $25 at the door.  Student admission is always free. Cash, check and PayPal options are available.

"Phenolic Resins for Advanced Composites 2018," Louis A. Pilato, PhD, Pilato Consulting

Fiber reinforced composites consist of a polymeric resin with a strong reinforcing fiber. Preferred resin systems are thermosetting type polymers combined with fibers such as glass, carbon or aramid. Phenol formaldehyde or phenolic resin is the oldest synthetic resin (1907). It enjoys an enviable position in selective high performance and advance composite uses due to its favorable FST (low fire, smoke and toxicity) characteristics and economics. Phenolic composites are the material of choice for aircraft interiors, aircraft paneling, and cargo liners. Phenolic is the preferred resin for the production of honeycomb used in aircraft flooring. Other application areas that benefit from the use of phenolic composites are oil offshore platforms, ballistic components, electrical conduit in tunnels, and carbon carbon composites.
